IN AN INTERVIEW with Metro, Derry Girls stars Nicola Coughlan and Saoirse-Monica Jackson revealed that the last episode is going to be surprisingly emotional.
This is not what we signed up for.
Nicola, the 31-year-old actress who plays Clare (we’re still not over her age, tbh) said:
When we filmed it, it was really emotional. When I read the last script, I got complete chills when I read the last scene. I can’t wait for people to see it and I hope we’ve done the writing justice.
Apparently, the final scene is going to add a lot more depth to the characters and we get to see ‘how the group works together’. While Nicola warned that viewers may need tissues (or a glass of wine, if things get particularly stressful) on standby, all Saoirse had to say was that the soundtrack for this episode will be quite impressive.
Saoirse and Nicola also joked about who they’d love to see in the next series of Derry Girls. Their dream cast included Jim Carrey, Dara O Briain as a science teacher and Michelle Visage as a nun.
